Post with 1 note
Christmas is what we make of it. Christ is the center of our celebration. We should create and continue traditions at Christmastime with the Savior being the center of it. Happiness can come to us as we give to others this Christmas season. Pres Monson reads Luke 2, The Christmas Carol and The Mansion by Henry Van Dyke is one of President Monson’s favorites. I’ll have to read this one some day. Lay up yourself treasures in heaven. The Spirit of Christmas needs to be kept in our lives. The Christmas spirit is the right spirit. It’s time to redidcate ourselves the same principles taught by Jesus Christ. We need to be more kind, respectful and loving toward others. We will live again because he came. We have the opportunity to gain eternal life. May he always be the center of our celebrations and our lives.

First Presidency Christmas Devotional
God so loved the World and gave his only begotten son. Light was a sign of the birth. There were great lights in heaven the day he was born in the Americas. Your faith and the Holy Ghost can create emotion. I am so gratful for the Lord’s birth here on the earth. This is truely what Christmas is about. The Savior loves and we love him as well. The spirit testifies to us truth. God knows every need we have. You can have a great Christmas by remembering gifts the Lord has given us and give others gifts to show your love for them. Whether great or small it will be great.
Pres. Henry B. Eyring Dec 4, 2011
I just love the Christmas holiday season. Even though it is beginning to be very cold outside there is something to look forward to. It is a season of gratitude and joy. It is a seaon of love and giving of service to others. We have families that love us. It’s a wonderful time to get to go home for Christmas. We have in our minds of everything that should be.
The perfect lights and perfect food and perfect gatherings. Sometimes it’s not perfect. It can be a time of frustation and anxiety. We need to be willing to open our hearts and minds to the feelings of Christmas. It could be something small to get us back on track. The spirit can touch our hearts again. Christmas is reallly about Christ.
Some of the cherished traditions of the season should remind us to seek Christ with a broken heart and contrite spirit. We should walk in the path of discipleship and go about doing good. We don’t have to move mountains, but we can still give what we have. The Savior’s gifts to us are breathe taking. Although our sins are as scarlet, they can be white like snow with the Lord’s help through the Atonement. During this Christmas season we need to recommit to the Lord. It may not be perfect, but it can help point our hearts in the right direction. May each Christmas season fill our hearts with gratitude that the Lord has come.
Pres Urchdorf talk on Christmastime
I am so grateful that my sister Ashley came down from Rexburg to spend conference weekend with Whitney and I. She came down with some of her roommates Friday night and left this afternoon after conference was over. On Friday night we went to Chipotle for dinner then I brought her to Orem and we had a little girls night where we painted our nails and put on beauty masks while we talked and watched some movies.
On Saturday, Ashley woke up at 0530 with me and went to work with me for three hours. She studied all this last year to be a nurse and soon she’ll take her state boards test. She watched me do a medication pass and got to visit with some of the residents. I work at Orchard Park Rehab and Healthcare in Orem and have for 4 years. It is a rehab place and nursing home for the elderly and for people that recently had surguries or strokes and who are recovering. I like working there because I like developing relationships with others.
When she left work then she went to Whitney’s and watched conference with her. After work and conference I went to Whitney’s and we had a girl’s nighyt with us three and Ji Su as well as Olivia. Whitney, Ashley, and I had fun before Olivia got there trying to figure out how to put oil in my car because it’s low. One of Whitney’s neighbors decided to help us out. It was very nice of him. Then Olivia arrived and we decided to go pick up Ji Su.
Once we got to Ji Su’s we talked for awhile then we went out to dinner at Persian Cafe which is an Italian food restaurant similar to Cafe Rio style. It was a wonderful night and I quite enjoyed it.
Sunday I worked and Ashley got to watch conference with Whitney and Mark. Then she headed back to Rexburg. It was a pleasant weekend full of new memories that will last a life time. I’m gratful for my sisters in my life and I am excited for fun times in the future as well.
What a wonderful weekend over all? It was so beautiful. Clear blue skies 70+ degrees, just absoulutely beautiful. We go through a lot of hard times in our lives, but there are also those sweet wonderful memorable moments in which we can treasure forever. Even though I had to work all conference weekend. I got to hear some of confernce. The topics included prayer, the Savior Jesus Christ, that Heavenly Father loves us and Repentance. It makes me want to be a better person and and help others more often in my life as well. I am so gratful for the gospel in my life and I hope that many others continue to bask in it’s goodness.
